The Boothbay Railway Village Model Railroaders have a lot going on in the Freight Station.  A brand new HO Display Layout is now under construction.  It began in August 2006 and is expected to have some trains running on it by the time the Village opens in May 2007.  The new Display Layout will emphasize railroading in Maine between 1850 and 1950.

The model railroaders are an active, all-volunteer group led by Railway Village board member Ron Spinney.  Most of the members of the group are in the Railway Village website pictures shown.  We meet every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the Freight Station.  Each of these evenings is a work session but includes a business meeting on the first Thursday of each month.

We accept donations of “old” model trains, magazines, videos and money to help them provide a model train experience for the public at the Village.  Each year we build a small layout and sell raffle tickets to help with expenses.  The layout is taken to train shows and Fairs where it gets a lot of exposure and allows the group to sell more raffle tickets.  Active members pay annual dues of $12.00 each which makes some additional income for us.

We welcome new members.  There is plenty to do!  So no matter what your talent, experience, or background, you will fit right in.  For more information about the model railroaders, you may contact the Museum using the link or by calling 1-207-633-4727.
