The Great Train Robbery

On Friday, July 30 at 6:00PM and 6:30PM the Boothbay Railway Village will be performing “The Great Train Robbery”. Staging a mock train robbery to invite contributions to the museum’s effort to raise funds for the acquisition of a historic Maine built narrow gauge caboose.

The Boothbay Railway Village has an opportunity to purchase caboose 551 from the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. Caboose 551 was built by and for the Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad in 1904. In an effort to preserve this caboose and include it in the core collection of the museum, we will be staging a train robbery.

In the spirit of fun, museum staff and volunteers will “rob” the free trains scheduled for Friday evening at 6:00PM & 6:30PM. Here is how it will work: Visitors will arrive and get their free ticket for the train ride during which the train will be held up by the “thieves and robbers” and be asked to give to the fund raising effort.

Hands Up! Time to give to the fundraiser for Caboose 551, at the Boothbay Railway Village on Friday, July 30 at 6:00PM & 6:30PM.
