DOCENT TRAINING OFFERED AT BOOTHBAY RAILWAY VILLAGE Have you ever thought about the years when the fastest way from Boothbay Harbor to Albion was to catch the stage coach, meet the two footer narrow gauge train in Wiscasset to Whitefield all the way past Hibbert's Gore ( population 2 ) and continue to Albion ? When Route #27, was improved a traveler could drive his own Ford Model T and make real good time to Wiscasset. Of course, you would have to get it started. Do you know how to crank start a Tin Lizzie ? Would you like to learn ? Would you like to ride in the cab of a two-foot gauge steam
locomotive ? You could even ring the bell and blow the whistle.
In order to accomplish its mission the museum free docent training is being offered to individuals who wish to expand their knowledge of land transportation and small town living in the Region. Those selected to be docents will be trained to interpret the historical significance and unique qualities of the buildings and artifacts in the collection to visitors to the museum
With further training and guidance from museum staff a volunteer participating in the Docent Training Program will be able to interpret the collection to visitors to the museum. Volunteering as a docent is a wonderful way to meet more interesting people like yourself. The time spent learning about our Region and interacting with museum visitors can enrich your life. |
